When our tutors were asked the following questions, this is how they responded:

    Hobbies:
Reading, math, playing guitar, movies, spending time with family and friends.

Why do you want to be a tutor?
I love math and I love teaching. I am going to school to be a math teacher and I am looking for as many opportunities as possible to work with students and gain experience. I want to be the best tutor and teacher as a can be. I want to be a teacher because I believe that teachers have the power to change lives and inspire. It is an occupation of utmost importance and meaning. I believe that math is of particular importance because the skills one develops through learning math apply to all aspects of life. Math is not just about numbers, it is about problem solving and logical thinking.

Why should a student pick you?
I have experience working with students, both in and out of the classroom and have succeeded in helping many of them improve. I firmly believe that all students can succeed, therefore I am very committed to the students I work with and I will do all that I can to help them succeed. I am very friendly and easy to get along with. All the students I have worked with have enjoyed working with me.

    Personal Statement:
I am a graduate of the University of San Diego with a BA in mathematics. I received my teaching credential in January 2010. I worked as a student teacher and long term sub in algebra and AP Calculus at Serra High School. I began tutoring in high school and have worked with college students in the math center at USD. My experience also includes both private and group work in classrooms grades 6-10. I studied math abroad in Budapest, Hungary in the fall of 2008. It wa a once in a lifetime experience and a testament to the great places education and can bring you. I was given the opportunity to learn a different way of life for 4 months as well as to meet many people of different cultures through the travels I made in Europe (which included Vienna, Venice, Milan, Cluj, and Istanbul). I volunteer at Indian Hills Camp in Jamul in the summer. I have worked there as a lifeguard and as a camp counselor. In the summer of 2008 I went with IHC on a missions trip to Nicaragua.

    Any Last Words?
Decimals have a point. Calculus has its limits. Geometry is just plane fun.
